Weight loss and weight management
come hand in hand first you need to be able to lose the weight; secondly you need an ongoing plan to manage your weight goals. Weight management plays a vital role in your weight loss regime, it enables you to plan, set and achieve those goals that are needed to combat weight loss and a healthy lifestyle. This goes with nearly everything we do, it is simple; we need a plan to succeed in most things in life and it is those plans that determine the quality and the output of your efforts, weight loss and weight management is no different.

Weight loss can be very difficult for many men and women of all ages, for some it may be relatively easy but for many it’s a challenge. Those challenges that are faced are all the common threads of negativity, doubtfulness, insecurity, low self esteem etc, and these challenges can be overcome by first managing those threads before tackling the root of the problem which is overweight. Trying to face on the root of the problem is not a long term solution although you may think you are doing some good but you are failing to meet the long term objectives and the long term goals.

A weight problem cannot be just a single problem; of being just overweight due to high intake of unhealthy foods or lack of exercise, it is in fact an amalgamation of smaller problems grouped together that is generating the weight issues. Of course what is pointed out is the obvious i.e. the unhealthy foods and lack of exercise, there is no doubt that they are the key contributors to the person being overweight, but if you look at the whole overweight situation there is indeed an epidemic of problems associated and probing into the big picture.

Weight management and obesity

Obesity is at the highest rate in the country as it's ever been and other countries are following suit. Over half of Australians today are obese and unhealthy. For a person to be considered overweight they must be around twenty pounds over their set weight which is based on height. Obesity can be a deadly killer and often cause very serious health risks and lifelong diseases if not treated properly. It reduces the lifespan of those who are 30 to 64. Obese people may have greater problems with walking and breathing and general day to day tasks involving the use of the body. About 300,000 people die from this disease every year and the number grows each year. Many people do not realize that they need to be active and that doing normal 3 minute exercises around the house is not going to help them lose weight. Obesity is a growing epidemic and is costing the government and society millions of dollars in research and funding. It is a growing concern also that our younger generation are fast becoming overweight and under exercising or not exercising at all.

Managing your weight is one thing, but managing your life is another, it is important that we keep a balance of our life. We need to identify our needs and wants and differentiate the good from the bad. To be a good manager at anything you need to acquire the enthusiastic approaches, the need, a certain set of skills to be able to execute your plan. It is no use if you are a talker and not a doer, talking is generating ideas, discussion, doing is for executing those ideas and very much like weight management there needs to be a balance of both.

So what is weight loss? And weight management?

Why is it important to lose weight? Well to simply to put it there are so many associated problems and risks with being overweight, overweight related health problems include diabetes, heart disease, high blood pressure, high cholesterol levels, or even high blood sugar levels. It would be wise to investigate further if you have a family history of any of the above related diseases with your local general practitioner.

So again ask yourself why are you really here? Are you that person who is:

•    Concerned about health weight related diseases?
•    Concerned about your general wellbeing and future due to weight problems?
•    Whatever the case maybe, you are here because you want to be someone different, someone better, someone special.

For whatever health reasons, you are here for a good reason.

Ask yourself this “What does weight loss and weight management mean to me?”  Do you even know the general terms of weight loss and weight management? Well firstly you must understand that everybody is different, different size, different height, different weight, different body structure etc. What you must understand that weight loss is a personal goal and should not be a goal associated to make some comparison to anybody else. Weight loss is and can be a very personal issue, however setting up and devising weight plans and personal regimes are the fundamentals of management, 'weight management' that is. What you must understand is the associated factors of being overweight; do you really know what they are and what they are doing to you?

Such questions that need to be analysed are:

Analysis of your weight

  • Do I need to lose weight or do I need to maintain a healthy figure?
  • Is my weight affecting my health?
  • Is my weight causing me self-esteem issues with the people I am surrounded by?

About your weight loss goals

  • What should be my weight loss goals?
  • Do I have short term or long term goals?
  • How will losing weight help me?

About nutrition and physical activity

  • How should change my eating habits?
  • Are my emotions triggering those habits? What are the real underlying causes?
  • What kind of physical activity should I partake in?
  • How much physical activity do I need?

Dear Goal Achievers,

I’m going to cut this short because I know you have so many success testimonials to read and I’m sure you had enough reading these. Anyway to cut a long story short, since purchasing your ‘Quit Smoking’ and ‘weight loss programs’ I have cut down my smoking from 2 packets a day to just 3 cigarettes daily in just 2 months! I have been a full time smoker since the age of 17 and let me tell you it’s hard on your own to quit! By the way I don’t consider myself fat, but I do carry some baggage spare tyres at my age lol. So I thought why not give it a go and try one of the weight loss programs!

Your programs have enabled me to gain the confidence and motivation to eventually quit smoking and become a healthier person! I am on the path to very soon quitting for good! And I am seeing results and changes day by day, best part of it all is I now have the energy and breathe to go for walks with my loving wife.

Thank you very, very much for this, I am going to recommend your programs to my friends!

Yours sincerely,

Johnny Lucas (Cairns Australia)
